‘Jewish guests in Switzerland’ tourism brochure
Switzerland Tourism and HotellerieSuisse have published the information brochure ‘Jewish guests in Switzerland’. The brochure provides information on Jewish culture, traditions and religious faith. It forms part of the Likrat Public Summer Project.
Jews and Jewish culture have existed in Switzerland for hundreds of years. However, public knowledge of this culture and what it encompasses is often somewhat lacking. To make matters even more complex, Jewish visitors come to Switzerland from many different countries, each with their own cultural background. The tourism associations Switzerland Tourism and HotellerieSuisse have been issuing information brochures for specific groups of visitors for many years now. In 2019, they added a new brochure for Jewish visitors.
Raising awareness of the diverse backgrounds of Jewish visitors
The aim is to provide information about Jewish culture, traditions and Judaism, and to give tourism employees a feel for what they entail. The brochure addresses Judaism in a broad sense and reveals the diversity that exists within this group of guests. The SIG was involved in producing the content as a consultant and partner. The brochure is distributed to hotels, apartment rental companies, and public facilities such as mountain railways and tourist offices in a package with other brochures on foreign guests. The publication of the brochure forms part of Likrat Public’s dialogue programme for Swiss holiday destinations.
