‘Welcome to the Swiss Alps’ visitor brochure
As part of the Likrat Public Summer Project, SIG publishes the brochure ‘Welcome to the Swiss Alps’ in Hebrew, Yiddish, English and French. The brochure informs Jewish visitors of Swiss customs and provides practical tips.
Jewish visitors from all over the world have been flocking to Switzerland for decades, often for holidays in the mountains. Questions, ambiguities and even misunderstandings invariably arise whenever different cultures meet. For that reason, since 2019 Likrat Public has been running a special dialogue programme at Swiss holiday destinations that receive Jewish visitors. The summer project aims to head off cultural misconceptions and spark dialogue between local people and Jewish guests to promote mutual understanding. These efforts are underpinned by two information brochures.
The SIG provides information and tips about holidaying in Switzerland
The SIG has published a brochure aimed at professionals and employees in the tourism sector and the Swiss population at large, plus another brochure geared towards Jewish visitors. This gives the readers an insight into Swiss customs and behaviour, along with practical tips to make their stay in Switzerland go as smoothly as possible. To produce the brochures, the SIG worked closely with the Jewish community in Zurich and exchanged information with local tourism associations. The tourism brochures are published in English, French, Hebrew and Yiddish. They are distributed in destinations that receive lots of Jewish visitors and are also available for download.
